Description
Against frozen rock and high-altitude cold, there isn’t room for gloves to fall short. Steadfast protection against the elements is mandatory. On rugged alpine and winter routes, dexterity is critical for handling gear and navigating complex terrain; sufficient insulation is needed to prevent hands from becoming dangerously cold. This is no place for compromise.
As the glove of choice for members of our Pro Team, the Randonee Gauntlet has proved its worth on some of the world’s most challenging extensive mountain routes and punishing winter lines. Combining the superior responsiveness required for demanding climbing with the breathable comfort and protection needed for extended use, this gauntlet is designed for alpinists tackling difficult objectives in the harshest conditions.
Pre-curved and articulated fingers and thumbs offer superior dexterity for technical climbing and ropework while minimising hand and arm fatigue when using tools. A Pittards® Armortan® Goatskin leather palm ensures durability for long abseil descents and extensive use and provides good grip on axes and poles.
The highly water-resistant, stretch-woven Soft Shell back protects against almost all snow and rain. At the same time, the extended length provides extra coverage over the wrists, sealing out the cruellest mountain wind and tumbling snow when climbing. Without a waterproof bag inside the glove and with a full fibre pile synthetic lining that generates reliable warmth but dries extremely quickly, the Randonee Gauntlet achieves an unmatched level of breathability and dexterity for a glove of this type. The combination of protection, dexterity and rapid dry times make it an essential for alpinists and mountaineers undertaking multi-day objectives.
